So this is gonna be my last post for a while. Im off on sum travels next week and before I go I wanna put u guys on to sutin wicked from Spain that must NOT be slept on. Introducing Omega Style. I met this guy throught Facebook a while ago as I noticed he was a sick dancehall producer from Spain and a fan of yours truly. But to my surprise this young prodical artist doesn't just produce bangers but can sing and rap too! and on top of all that he is barely in his teens and so hungry, he puts all my stateside artist to SHAME! yes he puts in work too!!?!?!? whaaaat?!?!? crazy i know....
Omega is from Toleda, just south of Madrid. And I know most of you will already know about this world famous historic and beautiful city, but if you are a lil behind or on the ig'nant side of things, here is a quick sum up via wicked-pedia...

"Toledo (pronounced: [toˈleðo]; Latin: Toletum, Arabic: طليطلة‎, DIN: Ṭulayṭulah, French: Tolède) is a municipality located in central Spain, 70 km south of Madrid. It is the capital of the province of Toledo. It is also the capital of autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 for its extensive cultural and monumental heritage as one of the former capitals of the Spanish Empire and place of coexistence of Christian, Jewish and Muslim cultures, as well as the place where harsh religious persecutions were held against the Jews.
Many famous people and artists were born or lived in Toledo, including Al-Zarqali, Garcilaso de la Vega, Eleanor of Toledo, Alfonso X and El Greco. It was also the place of important historic events such as the Visigothic Councils of Toledo. As of 2010, the city has a population of 82,489 and an area of 232.1 km2 (89.6 sq mi)."

Anyways, geography lesson aside, Whats special about Omega? Well, apart from being a truly talented producer and artist, he sings about REAL SHIT! not corny love songs, no pop rave bullshit, just wicked sounding songs about real things. About struggle and whats going on in a country going through some major hard times, stuff we can ALL relate to. So, keep your eye on this fella, he has already recorded on a few of my riddims and I plan to link up with him next year as I travel around Spain....So check his video for "Basta Ya" out now (below) and you know where you heard it first! BRRRRAP! DONT FUCKIN SLEEEEEP!!!!

While we haven't really covered the now ancient history of Kartel's split with Bounty Killer's Alliance label on this blog, and there are far better comments rating the talent and fate of the Empire Productions leader, we have undoubtedly shared our appreciation of many a Gaza/Kartel chune. More than social commentary, we really prefer to use this blog as a site to help promote artists and music that we feel everyone should know about. Looking for something to add to this week's bashment segment I stumbled on Navino who, under the tutelage of the former GAZA general Aidona, has been putting out a long list of releases throughout the previous month. We could take the space here to offer our own interpretation of Aidonia's split from Gaza to form his own production camp but this video will probably give you a better explanation. Finally, what inspired me to add this to the blog is Navino's "Brave" over the Rifle Behavior Riddim on Black Spyda. Some may also be happy to note that the riddim rides at 130 bpm and so should play well some of the "bashier" sounding UKG/Funky tracks we've written about here.

GH001 - Rusty Bell EP - Spooky

East London producer/DJ Spooky of Slew Dem crew and "Spartan" fame marks the first release for his Ghost House label with yet another round of heavyweight tracks full of unexpected twists and raw energy. Rusty Bell EP kicks it off with Spooky's trademark flair, smashing synth stabs into clanging snares and leaving plenty of room around the sub bass. The overall effect is something like a bashment riddim retooled with grimey synths and forced into an 8-bar format. J-Sweet is an excellent match on the remix of "Rusty Bell", where he effectively doubles the kicks and claps and launches the bubbling bass into 8th-note orbit. Switching up the pace a bit, Mosca offers perhaps one of the best and least expected remixes of the massively popular Spartan track. Though it's a good jump from any of his house/funky work as well as the previous two tracks, it still clocks in at standard Grime tempos and does what no other remix of the original track has done to reconnect the vanguard of instrumental Grime with dub-pressure roots. A personal favorite to be sure. Last but not least, "Snake Charmer" leaves off with deceptively simple, staggered, half-time rhythm and derives most of its punch from the wonderful bass arpeggio. All in all, a very promising development from "Bag of Myths" and for the future of Ghost House label. Buy it here!

Stinkahbell on GetDarker

the last month or two you've seen us biggin up the Stinkahbell Crew... their huge "Something In Your Eyes" release, as well as their "Dont Tell Mum About Ibiza" collab with Psy:am, proves just how much ammo they have in stock... if I'm not mistaken this is their debut set on GetdarkerTV... which as pointed out in the set has been long overdue...

this live mix is definitely full of high octane beats... there's some serious dubplate business flowin through the set... they drop a few notable classics which is nice to see. sometimes people just drop whats currently hot or new, but that doesn't necessarily make it good...

a track worth biggin up from the set, which I didn't realize had been released, is a track entitled "Grimey"... which features MC Supreme w/ Stinkahbell on the buttons... wicked tune..!!! you can cop here

this live set also includes big sets from Beezy (Hench crew) & the incredible Joe Nice...- reppin for the US.. Big...

The Tuesday Bashment Report... G.B.E.P. 3 NEWS!

Ok, so a bit of a selfish promotional report this week! I'm pleased to announce that the last part of my "Grimey Bashment" instrumental EP trilogy will be released early in the new year. For those of you that may be new to my EPs. The massive original 8 track Grimey Bashment EP (GBEP) came out in 2010 and did well in the online charts as well as received a ton of critical acclaim. Then in early 2010, GBEP 2 dropped, accompanied by the free release of Dont Sleep's Insomnia Mixtape, which contained many vocal versions of GBEP 2's riddims. In fact, one particular riddim (Cobra Riddim - MC Zulu/No lies RMX) even helped me win a prize! BRAP!!!

2012 will be the trilogy's third and final year and I aim to end it with a big KA-BOOOM. So what does "Grimey Bashment" really mean for any newcomers to my music? Well, GBEP 3 will be another massive 8 track instrumental compilation of my trademark mash up of styles... Dancehall, Grime, and hard Rap riddims, hence the title! And just like the previous chapters, don't expect just one tempo or one genre. I have always been a big believer in not sticking to one tempo, unlike alot of producers out there. I work on strickly vibes, and despite this being not so great for the weaker DJs, it always pays off when artists are shopping for beats as I've always got sutin they want!

As for the precise due date, I'm not 100% sure but I will keep you non-sleepaz posted. In the meantime, here is a lil taste of what you can expect on GBEP...I just uploaded this so check it...BLE$$!
