Temps For Mayor Part 1: House Prices

The folks over at Noisey have started a new series leading up to this year's London Mayoral election featuring none other than Grime artist Tempa T! Each vid seeks to point to another part of Temps' platform and speak generally to what should be on the next mayor's agenda. The first installment deals with housing prices, which I'm sure resonates with a lot of you here in New York. It's unclear if Tempa T is actually on the ballot for May, though for London's sake we sincerely hope so. Be sure to check out the next one on urban farming! hold tight jeckle and freckle lol ...

I've also culled a couple of other interesting links on the topics of urban planning and the urban livability:

- Mark Raymond talks about urban sprawl and equitable, sustainable design

- Most expensive cities in the world. These lists proliferate but here's one for

Georgia Anne Muldrow & Dudley Perkins @ S.O.B's

We usually reserve Mondays for new releases, but I just wanted to give you all a heads up on some events going on tonight in NYC. Celebrating the release of the Madlib produced album "Seeds" - released earlier this month on SomeOthaShip Connect - west coast vocalist and beatmaker Georgia Anne Muldrow is touching down tonight at S.O.B's in Manhattan with support from life partner and collaborator Dudley Perkins AKA Declaime. The video above is from a studio session for a remix EP of tracks from the J-Dilla tribute "Suite For Ma Dukes" released last summer on Mochilla. Aside from being a great video (who else makes a beat with baby kipping on their lap?) it gives an inkling of the music world this songstress is coming from. If you like the beat you can cop it along with other remixes on digital or dwnld it from the gracious folks at 92BPM

On that other underground tip, if you are heading to the Brooklyn side this evening and are in the mood for some bass-booming Dubstep and junglistic rudeness make sure you get on the guest list for tonight's Konkrete Jungle event @ The Cove with Hellfire Machina, Fishtix, Art Blakey III and more!

SECLUSD 019 - Kastle - I Know

For those who haven't noticed, Philly label Seclusiasis has been consistently shelling out pure-fire releases nearly every month since January. Of course the entire catalog stretches back way further - and we strongly suggest you peruse that *sht - but it's worth pointing back to the start of this year, which saw the release of garage legend Todd Edwards' remix of SF producer Kastle's "Time Traveler". The original "Time Traveler" is the title track of Kastle's much acclaimed breakout EP released in '11. As with the rest of the 6 track EP "Time Traveler" deftly combines grime elements, re-emerging garage house variants and Kastle's own unique west-coast lovestep vibe. Forward to 2012 and Kastle's rich work is still generating new content (while he is hard at work supporting 12th Planet on tour!) This time the track given a working over is "I Know", broken down to its constituent parts and offered up on Reverb Nation as part of a heated remix competition. The winning remix comes from Nebraskan producer Inflect and sticks with the rave side of the original track, tossing in classic grime bass notes with the housey chords and spastic vocal snippets. Runner's up Krueger, +Verb and Direct Feed bring out some of the softer elements of the original, whisking us away to bizarre universes a-twinkle with rolling hi-hats, funky snares and cascading, side-chained sawtooths(sawteeth?)The original track and acapella version are included as well for you to have your own go at reconfiguring the R&B flavers.

EL-B and Caski - Ghost Recordings "Romp" / "Lunatic"

Photobucket

time for some f***in vinyl this week... why does vinyl have to be so expensive to produce / purchase. maybe someone can come up with a viable alternative to bring the cost down.. even just a little would make a big difference (obviously without suffering on sound quality...) I'd be buying more.. thats for sure... one vinyl I did pick-up last week, was the latest from El-B's Ghost Recordings ....

EL-B "Romp" - although this one has been around on dubplate since last year.... (even with an unofficial Wiley vocal... lets make that happen) it's a track I've been keeping an eye out for.... the name alone gives a clue to the vibe of the track... and I don't know what it is... the reverse vocal that fades in reminds me of Black Moon's "How Many M.C.'s" - (the way it comes in at least...) check it out, you'll see what I mean... definitely a big tune!!! bass-line is sick

Caski's "Lunatic"... I first heard this track on a J Da Flex set sometime last year on an unsigned -hype type of thing.. no question why this got snatched up.. pure high energy vibes on this one... and for real.. it would sound lovely next to a Kutz tune... I can hear them together already...

you can cop this 12" at all your good vinyl shops... I'm reppin Juno and Boomkat for this one... also available at Redeye.... Shouts to DJ Raggs!!
